Lacquering

At this point, the trumpet has been buffed and polished to a high shine. It has also been carefully inspected and cleaned to ensure the best finish possible. The actual lacquering is done in a specially built room designed to be a clean room of sorts. This is to prevent dust or lint from sticking to the wet lacquer during the spraying. Notice the great care Scott takes to spray an even coating over the entire surface. When lacquering great attention to detail is required. If too much is applied a run or drip will form. If too little is applied, dry shots or bare spots will result.
